2021 Scholarships Reception Informational Document (8/25/2021)
Dean Eric M. Wilcots and the College of Letters & Science are delighted to host the Annual Undergraduate Scholarships Reception Friday, October 15, 2021, from 4:30-5:45 in Varsity Hall of Union South on the campus of UW-Madison. This in-person event is planned in alignment with current UW-Madison health protocols for the fall 2021 and will be live-streamed to scholarship recipients, families and donors unable to join us in person.
We are actively monitoring UW-Madison COVID-19 guidance for potential revisions to current requirements. If protocols for UW-Madison events are revised in the coming weeks, updates will be shared with invitees and will be reflected on this webpage. Careful planning around the health and safety of attendees is in the forefront of our planning. Below we have addressed questions you may have pertaining to the L&S Annual Undergraduate Scholarships Reception.
What will occur at the L&S Scholarships Reception? The L&S Scholarships Reception is a time to celebrate the shining accomplishments and leadership of 2021-2022 scholarship recipients and honor the generosity of our scholarship donors in the company of students, families and patrons. The formal program includes remarks from Dean Eric M. Wilcots, an esteemed scholarship donor and three scholarship recipients. The event will begin with a power point featuring scholarships and conclude with a video gratitude montage.
What are the plans for seating arrangements? Attendees will be seated in tables of 6-7 in mixed groupings. Tables will be arranged within the hall to maximize social distancing.
How many attendees will there be? Guest attendance is limited this year. We anticipate 300 attendees.
How long is the event? The event is scheduled from 4:30-5:45 p.m. with formal program from 4:50-5:35 p.m.
How will food be handled? Boxed light refreshments will be available. Attendees may enjoy the refreshments while at the event or take it with them at departure.
Will attendees be required to wear a mask? Yes, as per campus masking policy updated 8/3/2021, all students, employees and visitors to campus will be required to wear masks when inside campus buildings. Masks will be available for attendees who may have forgotten theirs.
Will attendees be required to be vaccinated? No, vaccination is not required. However, UW-Madison urges everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible; this is the most effective way to limit the impact of the virus and interfere with its ability to spread.
Can I attend the event if I’ve recently tested positive for COVID-19? No, we ask anyone with a recent positive COVID-19 test to cancel attendance and follow isolation instructions provided to you by your health care provider or other public health officials.
What plans have been made pertaining to health and safety? The health and safety of our campus community and event guests is of utmost concern. Many components of this annual event have been adjusted to facilitate a healthy gathering including: reduced number of invitees, individual refreshment provision, masking, reduced table seating and distanced table arrangements, shortened event, and virtual participation option.
What plans are there for virtual participation? The event will be live-streamed on Zoom for virtual participation from remote locations. For Zoom registration, email rsvp@saa.ls.wisc.edu.
